Asylum
If you fear you may be in danger if you return to your home country, you may be eligible to file for asylum
Will you be in danger if you return to your country of origin? Did you face persecution and violence before you left and, if you return, do you fear that it will continue? You may be eligible to apply for Asylum in the United States. Asylum is one of the most complicated procedures in immigration law, and immigrants who attempt to navigate the process without a lawyer face a very low success rate. That’s why you need an attorney experienced in asylum law and knows the process like the back of their hand. At Leveille Law Group, we have filed hundreds of asylum applications on behalf of our clients.
You may file for asylum if, in your country of origin, you faced persecution, or have a credible fear that you will face persecution, on behalf of your:
Race
Religion
Nationality
Political affiliation
Membership in a particular social group
Additional requirements:
You were either being persecuted by the government of your home country or a group that your government would not or could not protect you from
You would not be able to escape the persecution by returning to a different part of your country of origin
You have not been convicted of a serious crime while in the United States
You must file within 1 year of your arrival in the United States (with some limited exceptions)
Contact us if you think asylum might be a good option for you. We can help analyze your circumstances and see if asylum is a proper route for you to take.
